Writing Submissions Guidelines
Personal Writing: Length
and content: most articles are 250- 1200 words, so as short or as long
as you want it. when writing, pick a specific incident(s), because we
often receive articles that are vaguely about "growing
up with games," which simply reminisce, but do not focus on anything
in particular. An incident or theme (like "Why Um Jammer Lammy is
a feminist game" or "My experience as a street fighter tournament
player" ) is mandatory. But really anything goes; as long as it's
organized and well written. Experimental formats welcome, however no
stream of consciousness journal entries unless it's really bizarre/ damn
special. Quality please!
Reviews: If you are writing a game review,
it should be reflexive and thoughtful, outside the realm of traditional
game reviews; about why the game is interesting, unique, or relevent
to life. Or it can be a personal narrative about playing a game. Nothing
about codes or polygons or specs. We're trying to work with more experiment/
personal ways of thinking about games. We encourage new ways to write
about video games.
Industry covereage: I'm
not particularly interested in trade trends unless it has something to
so with social impact/ relevent to gaming and society.
